Promotion Ceremony

Philip's promotion ceremony was today! YAY PHILIP!
Most of the ceremony was really nice, except for a few things. They started off by telling this absolutely bizarre anecdote from Air Force History about one of the first women to enlist. It went something like, "And why did you enlist, M'am?" "Oh, I enlisted to do clerical work so that some big, strong man doesn't have to do it anymore!" Um, ok. What a rousing account of equal opportunity in the armed forces.
Of course, there were also some interesting things I didn't expect. Like after everyone went up, they're little unit (group? band? posse? whatever) of people did the unit chant. Some of them were awesome. Like, the guys who handle explosives kept shouting "FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!" Hehehe. But, the poor people who handle logistics just got to shout "Logistics! Logistics! LOGISTICS!" which I think is just the worst chant ever. Philip's unit shouted "You've Got Com!" and unless that's some Communications parody of the You've Got Milk ads, I have no idea what it means. I'd have to place it somewhere in the middle, in terms of its ability to inspire.
Oh, and I gave Philip his card and cookies. I baked him about 8 dozen cookies, although I left some at home, because I THOUGHT he would share them with his shop. Apparently, however, they scoffed at the chocolate covered strawberries I donated before, so now he isn't going to share his cookies with them. I'm not sure he can eat that many cookies before they go stale, but I guess if he really puts his mind to it... Oh, and he didn't think his card was nearly as awesome as I thought it was. I drew him a little picture of a man in a toilet stall, and it said "Way to go!"
I mean, come on. That's hillarious. Right? Cause, you know, it's a TOILET stall. And he's GOING. Ha ha ha ahhh. So, anyway, that's was basically my day. Except for the hours and hoursss of sitting in ucky downtown traffic in DC and freaking out about Philip being late, but I don't want to relive that by writing about it.
